COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
- NO trolling. This is up to my discretion and I will not hesitate to block members I believe are purposefully goading others or playing "devil's advocate" unnecessarily. We're here to connect, not argue. I'll moderate on a one-two warning system. Two warnings and then you are IP banned and prevented from creating new accounts.
Comments from new members are moderated for their first post. This is to reduce spam.
Avoid hot button topics. This is a space to discuss crafting, first and foremost. While I welcome intersectional discussions and believe that our very existence is often political, we don't need to make it the center of our interactions here. If your topic or post is deemed intentionally incendiary or controversial, you will get a warning.
I find that sometimes it helps to know where your forum moderator stands to know if you are in alignment with this space. Here are some beliefs I hold that guide me in all things and are non-negotiables for this space, too.
All materials are welcome--but not all materials are sustainable. We will likely have many discussions in this space about synthetics v. natural fibers. If you are heavily invested in using only synthetic fibers, you might be uncomfortable sometimes. I would never discourage anyone from using the stash they own, but I do routinely discourage the purchase and perpetuation of petroleum-based materials.
Everything is connected. Our choices as consumers of any variety, who we vote for, the initiatives we support and how we express what we desire to retailers are all linked to our economic and environmental future. If you aren't willing to examine your privilege, biases, advantages and how they relate to the world around you. If these discussions feel too big for your crafting space, you can always avoid these threads. Often, I use craft as a way to examine economic disparity, labor concerns, animal welfare concerns and manufacturing.
Other than that, this space is designed to be simple and fun. Let's have some great fiber discussions! Let's explore new breeds of sheep. Let's start and finish projects, clean out our stash and dive into the WIP closet.
I'm glad to have you here!
